The year was 2020, and as the world entered into a state of lockdown, my oldest daughter, Kiyah Grace, was born. On one hand, her arrival brought immense light and love to our little family. Yet, the experience of becoming new parents amidst global chaos was equally terrifying.
During this time, the one thing I could control was showing up to the blank page every morning. It became my therapy. I created Kohl (the main character) to represent all the things that were surfacing in my consciousness during that time. The fear, the anxiety, the questions I was grappling with.
What if I couldn't step up for my family?
What if I wasn't enough?
What if I passed down all my fears and traumas to my innocent daughter?
What if this was the end of the world as we knew it?
The book was finished in January 2021, but it took another few years of editing to feel like it was ready to see the light of day. I needed to embark on my own journey of self-discovery to truly finish my character’s arc.
I'm marketing the book as: The storytelling of "Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" meets the suspense of "Eyes Wide Shut." On the surface, it's a psychological thriller about Hollywood and secret societies lurking beneath the glitz and glamor. But at its core, it's about love, loss, and our inner shadows. It's about going on a journey through our traumas to find light and beauty on the other side.
I hope you check it out.
And today, the e-book is available for PRE-ORDER on Amazon.
Here it is for the first time - "THE ELEVEN."
